The purpose of this program is to ensure the people get the needed medicine to maintain health.

It is a well-known fact that there is an acute shortage of medicines in Sri Lanka at present. The shortage of medicines is exacerbated due to the shortage of foreign exchange and the limitations on importing raw materials for pharmaceutical production.

At the same time, the depreciation of the rupee against the dollar has pushed the price of medicines making it unaffordable to many. Therefore, we propose the following initiatives to be undertaken under this component.

• Ensure access to medicines for those who are under treatment for chronic diseases
• Ensure that medicines are available at public hospitals
